Cervelo S5 Dura-Ace Di2 Bike
Note: This bike is part of a special closeout deal. These prices do not include assembly. This bike is shipped factory-ready and will require a specialty mechanic to assemble. We are offering a ready-to-ride service with this closeout which will cost $100 for bikes featuring mechanical groups and $200 for electronic. This can be added to your order after checkout. To request this service please call us at 718.222.6000 or contact us via live-chat or email cs@racycles.com.

All closeout bikes are shipped as-is. Specifications are subject to change based on factory changes. No specification changes will be of lesser value. Bikes are new and in their original packaging prior to shipping.

The Cervélo S5 Dura Ace Di2 Bike is the super premium build of the newly-updated S5 platform. The S5 is the zenith of Cervélo's aero road offerings, and the design they think most people should ride, as aerodynamics trump weight for most people's riding most of the time. is the acronym for Vroomen White Design, the designation they attach to their top aero road bikes, the name coming from Cervélo's two founders.

The changes in the S5 are more than just the paint. The bike has been made more aerodynamic, stiffer, and lighter. Thanks to their never ending loop of testing and imagination, they came to realize that they could improve the bike in just about every parameter. The front end has now more frontal area both for aero and rigidity. The shapes, when combined with the trailing edges are now more slippery. Likewise switching to a tapered steerer and utilizing a 1 3/8" lower race increased torsional rigidity in the head tube. 35% stiffer. Wider fork legs and a taller crown also do the double of improving aero and lateral stiffness. 17% stiffer here The down tube has likewise been reshaped, wider mostly, for improved aero shrouding for the water bottle and 6% greater stiffness at the bottom bracket. They also worked with the carbon plies, moving material around, adding it in sections to strategically improve lateral rigidity, and removing it in sections to strategically increase vertical compliance.

Cervélo switched from a two-position seat post to a single-position, 20mm setback post. The design is lighter and more aero, but if you prefer the 0mm/40mm setback design of old, it's still compatible with the frame. And the fastening system has been redesigned for easier use.

In terms of geometry, they shortened head tubes so that the S5's geometry would match their other road offerings. With a lower head tube, more people can fit the proper size frames more easily, and with Cervélo having mastered a equally progressive size run from their smallest to largest frames, it's easy to find one that fits, whether you're long legged, long torsoed, or perfectly balanced between your top and bottom.

The rest of Cervélo's smart design is on display here. Future Proof Cable routing, where you can run mechanical braking and electronic shifting, or replace those with hydraulic braking and mechanical shifting, just with the switching of stops, is here. The routing has been improved for mechanical cables, so you'll experience no loss in performance just because the cables are routed inside the frame. The brakes have no aero penalty thanks to the shaping behind the front brake and in front of the rear. And the rear is attached to a bolt that attaches to the frame for easy service. The Di2 battery, which is internal here, can also be routed externally for easier access and slightly improved aerodynamics.

The biggest, and arguably easiest, improvement to aero they made on the complete bike are the new all-carbon handlebars Cervélo specifies. From the side, they look like a more-or-less normal compact ergo design, with 80mm of reach and 128mm of drop. But the widened and flattened top section, which can barely be seen by the wind, saves 4.4 watts over a standard handlebar. There's a round center section partially hidden behind the wing. This clamps into a normal round 31.8mm handlebar clamp. Because these engineers suffer from OCD, they found that a standard "round" stem is more aero with these bars than an aero stem. And that mounting a Garmin (their pro riders have been using Garmin computers) on the stem makes the setup faster still.

The bike is equipped with most of Shimano's Dura Ace Di2 drive train. STI levers, wires, derailleurs, 11-25 eleven-speed cassette and chain are all from the Japanese giant. Where the bike diverges is with the Rotor 3D+ BBright cranks with 52/36 rings. The BBright standard is the result of a partnership with Cervélo and Rotor, and they believe utilizing the crank maximizes the benefits of the design.

Cervélo has embraced Hed wheels. The Jet 6 Plus SCT (Stability Control Design), feature a 25mm wide rim bed, 60mm deep clincher rims and aluminum braking surfaces. The tires, Conti' Grand Prix racing tires, with 180tpi casing and 23mm width work well with the wide rims for both an aero profile and more supple ride. And if you want to run 25mm tires, they'll fit, too.

The Cervélo S5 Dura Ace Di2 Bike pulls out all the stops in terms of maximizing your speed on the road.
