Rallon M-LTD Bike Geometry / Size Chart

Bike Geometry
Orbea Rallon M-LTD Bike
Orbea revamped the Rallon to be more pure enduro than before. But they kept it as clever as Orbea bikes always are, and that results in a bike that is exciting to ride because the line over which you’re afraid to pass gets moved that much farther when astride this speed demon.

The frame material of choice is Orbea’s OMR, their top-grade carbon-fiber mix. It’s deployed for both the main and rear triangles. Because each part is molded as a monocoque piece, the two halves are light. Because the molding process leaves few, if any, voids, the design is strong. Thanks to their engineering, they actually shaped parts of the top and seat tubes asymmetrically. It’s not so much to counteract pedaling forces, a la Pinarello, but to allow them to set up the shock offset from center. It’s moved a tiny bit to the right, and there’s a support strut only on the left. This allows them to do three very important things. The first is easier access to the adjustment points, making tuning easier, whether it’s in your garage or on the fly. The second, it makes more room under the shock; there’s now room for a water bottle cage and regular-sized bottle, as well as a Rallon-specific frame bag that sits behind the bottle and on top of the bottom bracket. Third, it allowed them to drop the top tube lower, for more standover clearance.

The suspension is also part of a new generation of linkage systems, where the shock mount pin can be pulled and reversed to drop or raise the bottom bracket height. In the low position, the bb sits 336mm off the ground unsagged, In the high position, it goes to 343mm. The change in height also tweaks the geometry a bit. In the low position, the seat angle is 75.5-degrees, with the head at 65-degrees. In the high position, it moves forward to 76- and 65.5-degrees.

In terms of the rest of the geometry, they designed for stability. Key in this is the long top tube and short stem. The more stable you feel, the slower the ride seems, the more confidence you’ll have to go faster. Also important is the suspension. The Rallon gives you 160mm up front and 150mm in back. The standard rear shock is the Fox DBX2 Factory three-position Adjust Evol, with Kashima coating. The action has been further tuned thanks to a collaboration between Orbea and Fox, with a valving that maximizes performance.

Orbea likes big wheels for speed. So the Rallon comes equipped with 29ers, and the wheels are strengthened by Boost spacing, which, improves bracing angles to stiffen both the fork and the rear suspension. Boost also has the advantage of widening the bottom bracket, which itself helps stiffen up the bike. The wheels are stopped by 180mm rotors, the rear caliper mounting via post mount.

In terms of small touches that help further elevate the Rallon, there are many. The fork is a tapered 1 1/8” to 1 ½”. The bottom bracket is threaded for durability. There are ISCG05 mounts for keeping the chain on and protected. The linkage pivots on Enduro bearings. The cables, including for the dropper post, are threaded through the frame for mechanical and aesthetic cleanliness. They even include a foam sleeve to keep the cables and hoses from rattling. The frame is designed for a 31.6mm round seatpost, which makes it easy for a dropper post to be installed, and they are standard on the complete bikes.

The Orbea Rallon comes to your aid so effortlessly, it’s hard to notice that you’re going farther faster. And that’s an awesome feeling.
