Salming Elements Shoes
Salming Elements shoe is designed to beyond their Trail shoe. They started with the Trail and realized there is a subset of runners who ache to go farther.

As with the Elements, they engage their RocShield, a polyurethane covering the lower part of the upper—from the sole up around the sides of your feet. It also protects your feet from nicks and scrapes. Save the shoes, save your feet. They designed a new material and a new lug design to keep your foot sticking to the ground and you upright. The material is TOC66, or Traction Outsole Control 66, and molded 8mm high lugs for digging into dirt, gravel, hanging on to roots and rock, and doing all just as well in the wet as in the dry.

Another change from the Trail is a 4mm drop. Most Salming shoes have 5mm. This allows for another feature of the shoe, a roomier toe box. This gives the foot room to expand in the landing phase of your strides. The foot is supported by their RunLite midsole, which is thin enough to give you a good feel for the trail, springy enough to both absorb the landing and enhance the push off.

Salming's most famous features are still on board. There's the TGS 62/75, which is their way of controlling the shoe fore-aft flex to mimic the foot's natural flexion. There's a flex point 62% of the distance from the heel to the toe. And rather than flexing straight across, the flex point is at a 75-degree angle, which mimics how the ball of your foot is angled across from the outside to the inside, And, as with all Salming shoes, the upper is light and thin and bonded to an exoskeleton that wraps around the foot, keeping it firmly in place and eliminating lateral slop.

The Salming Elements shoe is ready for anything, including, according to Salming, swimming. Or at least mud and stream crossings.
