Designed, engineered, and manufactured entirely in Switzerland, the BMC Impec justifies the stereotype of obsessive Swiss quality. While prototyping the Impec, the company’s engineers set standards so high for the final product that they had to build a new manufacturing facility from the ground up. The factory, called the Impec Lab, is in Grenchen, a town famous for its world-class watch-making – and this is no coincidence. Granting BMC perfect control of the Impec’s creation, from start to finish, the facility’s result is a world-class race bike with a ride, a look, and a story unlike any other.
Some of the most sophisticated manufacturing robots ever conceived assemble every Impec, from size-specific carbon weaving to cosmetic finish, with exact and repeatable standards no other facility on the planet can match.
BMC developed the process of Load Specific Weave, or LSW, to precisely control the density and orientation of the carbon fiber along every square millimeter of the Impec's frame and fork.
What appear to be lugs on the Impec are actually carbon-injected "shells" that are lighter, stiffer, and offer more structural integrity than traditional lugs.
Intended to be a race-ready frame without compromise, the Impec employs a BB30 bottom bracket standard for stiffness and responsiveness from the pedals.
The Impec also represents the future of cycling by acknowledging new fit science, being available in twelve different sizes to accommodate a wide variety of body types and riding styles.
We've done the homework and put together a superb build for the Impec, complete with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 drivetrain, 3T Orbis II carbon clincher wheels, and a 3T carbon cockpit.
Looking for Impec-like stiffness, but with lower weight for the climbs? The BMC TeamMachine SLR is what you want when gravity is the only enemy.
Looking for something with Impec-like precision, but with a greater focus on comfort? The BMC Gran Fondo GF is Team BMC’s choice for long-distance races or cobbles.
