For the chamois, Giordana has turned to their top of the line women-specific Cirro S-W insert which uses its padding strategically so that you won’t have material bunching-up in certain areas while other spots feel under-protected. The thickness varies depending on where in the pad you need it. The layer that sits against your skin is made from Nylon microfiber and has Aloe Vera permanently infused into the threads. That means it will cool and protect delicate skin, and never wash out of the pad, no matter how many washings a season you put it through. Aloe Vera is a natural defender against bacteria, so you won’t have to worry about sores developing even if your wax job is wearing off. The next layer of this four layer system is a 3mm thick open cell foam that helps move the sweat away from your skin. It works in conjunction with the middle layer of the pad that is made of 4mm thick open foam that has a waffled texture to keep the ventilation effective and help move perspiration quickly away from your body and to the outer reaches of the pad where it can evaporate. The outer layer of the insert is made from a 7mm thick nonabsorbent memory foam that is hand sewn to the materials above and acts as the super highway to get the accumulated sweat to the outside of the fabric and evaporated.
