Smith Optics' Route (Road) and Rover (MTB) helmets answer the call of those who've taken note of Smith's excellent pro-tour helmets, but don't want to hand over pro-tour money. The two mid-level helmets are essentially twin brothers, with the same basic structure and design. The only real differentiating feature is the off-road visor, which appears on the Rover.
Both helmets use Aerocore construction, built with the relatively common EPS foam, but both are bolstered by a honeycomb-like lattice of material called Koroyd. Koroyd massively improves breathability and improves protection, all while saving lots of weight. Both helmets also use Smith's VaporFit system for easy and comfortable adjustment, and both helmets are available with MIPS for an added level of safety.
